When choosing a new air conditioning system, make sure you are getting the right equipment for your home. Central air conditioners and heat pumps both perform similar functions, but are best suited for different types of homes. Before choosing your new system, read our blog to learn which type, ductless or central air, is best for your home.
Ductless Heat Pump Air Conditioning
Heat pumps, which can be used as ductless air conditioning systems as well as heating units, work well with smaller homes that do not have room for the ductwork central air requires. Ductless systems require less equipment overall than central air heating/cooling pumps, consisting of only an outdoor compressor and a mounted wall unit through which the cool air is distributed. Ductless units can be added to every room or just a few, such as a home extension, finished basement, or garage, and allows for individual temperature control per room. Fsi Oil and Propane carries ductless heating and cooling systems both from Trane and Fujitsu.
With seasonal energy efficiency ratios (SEER) ranging from 14 to 20 and a heating seasonal performance factor (HSPF) up to 10, Trane heat pump systems are highly-efficient and offer Climatuff® single-stage, two-stage and variable speed compressors that provide various levels of comfort as the system automatically adjusts and maintains constant speeds to avoid temperature swings inside the home. The all aluminum SpineFin coil provides greater heat-exchanging capabilities (which means higher efficiency) and is more resistant to corrosion than traditional copper and aluminum coils.
Central Air Conditioning
Central air conditioners are ideal for homes with a lot of space, since the equipment needed to run the system is relatively large, although they can be adapted to any size home. The evaporator unit, responsible for removing heat and humidity from the air using refrigerant, is typically installed in the attic or basement, and the condenser unit outside the home. Central AC is also easier to install in new construction, as the large amount of space required for ductwork can be included in the design and not retrofitted in, as is the case with an older home. Central air conditioners provide better air circulation than a ductless system, and provide an even distribution of cool air around the entire home. At Fsi Oil and Propane, we carry several models of Trane central air conditioning systems.
A Trane central air conditioner offers a SEER upwards of 18, placing it among the most efficient systems available. With an average noise level ranging between 55 to 75 decibels, Trane’s air conditioning systems offer quiet operation as well as greater efficiency than required by the U.S. Department of Energy. Trane A/Cs also offer Climatuff® single-stage, two-stage and variable speed compressors that boast 700 stages of comfort providing optimal temperature control.
Trane heat pumps and central air conditioners are ENERGY STAR® certified products and are both viable options for maintaining your home comfort.
